When Your Clients’ Equipment Makes It to Mars

2 Minute Read
For years, no other planet has captured our collective imagination quite like Mars. Since the early 1900s, dozens of movies have featured storylines that took place on the cold, rusty planet. From neon green aliens to the challenges of space exploration, Mars has always fed our cinematic imaginations. As a kid, I remember recreating Mars for a science project with a Styrofoam sphere and tiny tubes of brown and red paint. After painting my small version of Mars to perfection, I cut it in half, glued it to a foldable board, and wrote all the Mars facts I could think of. The thing is, I could’ve written one more fact on that board, but at the time I didn’t know it. “After college, I’ll work for an agency whose clients explore Mars.”

Our Involvement

When NASA’s Perseverance rover successfully landed on Mars, it made history as the largest and most advanced rover to ever land on the Red Planet. Three of our clients here at The Communications Group manufacture products that helped make this historic event happen.

Without the help of Innovation Industries and their products on the launch pad, historical moments in space exploration wouldn’t be possible. Our agency currently helps Innovation Industries advertise their newest products like their touch-free elevator buttons and foot switches which were created to combat the spread of COVID-19 in buildings around the world.

I remember learning about Martian evolution in school. At some point, the planet went through a dramatic transformation, and a world that was once rather Earthlike became the dusty, dry husk we see today. This summer we’ll be performing a complete transformation of Innovation Industry’s website. This project will bring their company into the new millennium, with digital assets that fit their branding and their product offerings.

While Innovation Industries helped make launches like that of Perseverance possible, our client, ABB, is keeping all the equipment on the rover tidy with their Ty-Rap® cable ties. This isn’t ABB’s first time having their product on Mars. “Thomas & Betts and ABB Installation Products have provided products to the U.S. space program since 1973, and Ty-Rap cable ties were used on the still-active NASA Curiosity rover, as well as the twin Spirit and Opportunity rovers.” For more information about ABB’s involvement on Mars click here.

In the spirit of conquering new frontiers, ABB was one of our first clients to utilize our Content Marketing Center product. CMC is a proprietary website loaded with client-branded and exclusive content that provides solutions for prospects via articles, videos, white papers, and so much more. The purpose of CMC is to educate our client’s prospects and generate leads while tracking high-performing content and using these insights to replicate our process for future campaigns.

For the next several months, Perseverance will study the Martian surface. Meanwhile, we continue to provide our clients with PR, marketing, digital, and communication solutions that work so they can keep playing a valuable role in the future of space exploration.

I’m not sure which feels more unreal, the fact that we have the capabilities to explore planets millions of miles away, or that our agency, The Communications Group, has clients who have put their products on Mars. Either way, amazing things are bound to happen when you partner with industry leaders.

In order to produce incredible client work, we have to be the agency that understands the complexities of various industries. We have clients ranging from agriculture to outreach and education to manufacturing. Not every client is bound to have products that make it to space, and that's okay. Here at The Communications Group, we will meet you where you are and take you where you want to be. If you’re interested in learning more about these projects or discovering what we can do to help launch your company to the next level, then I encourage you to contact us.
