Everyone wants their digital marketing efforts to be successful. It can be tricky to learn all of the ins and outs of social media marketing and search engine optimization (SEO), and how they work together. Here are three tips to keep in mind as you continue your digital marketing efforts.
There are two primary types of content that we see in social media: informational and transactional. Informational content showcases your organization’s values and personal stories. Transactional content promotes the services or products you sell.
According to data, more users prefer informational content to transactional content. When deciding how much of each to post, keep this formula in mind:
75% Informational + 25% Transactional = 100% Content Saturation
Informational content reflects well on both SEO and social media. This type of content can be produced in a variety of ways including blogs, articles, podcasts, infographics, videos and stories.
Content pillars are a tool that help to ensure that each piece of content you post is relevant to your audience. Pillar
content serves as the “parent content” and is most relevant to your business. Within the pillars, you have content clusters. Clusters are the “child content” and serve as the sub-topics of the pillar content. Clusters are great for expanding reach and backlinks which overall helps your SEO.
Although high SEO performance is correlated to an increased social media presence, a large social media presence doesn’t directly cause your SEO to increase. The two are different marketing tools that complement each other, but should be measured separately.
