Introducing Sam, Our New Fall '24 Intern

Written by Sam Bennett | August 20, 2024

Hello! I'm Sam Bennett, and I’m your Fall 2024 intern here at The Communications Group (ComGroup). I’m a senior at Ouachita Baptist University, where I’m studying strategic communications with a minor in Christian studies. I was born and raised in Little Rock and attended Pulaski Academy.

I’m deeply interested in communications, especially broadcasting, journalism, and public relations. Podcasting has fueled my passion and sharpened my skills in these areas. My co-host and I started our show, OBU-FM, to celebrate the classic music we love, introduce it to a younger audience, and conduct in-depth interviews with artists. We’ve interviewed several Grammy winners and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. I handle the show’s production, writing, and social media presence. Since we launched in February 2023, I’ve grown very proud of what we’ve created. Aside from my podcast, I’m also involved in Ouachita’s media organization, the Signal, as a staff writer. I’m looking forward to bringing these skills to my internship with ComGroup this fall.

In my spare time, you can find me performing with my band, Bad Habit. My brother and I founded the band in 2015, and we’re thrilled to see it continue to grow. We perform live almost every weekend and then some, specializing in, but not limited to, classic rock music. AY Magazine readers even voted us Best Local Musicians of 2024. We also play in another band called The Normal Noises, a tribute band for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.

Additionally, I volunteer at Fellowship Bible Church in West Little Rock, where I lead a small group of middle school guys every Wednesday night. On top of communications and music, I have a heart for ministry, so I enjoy getting the opportunity to be so connected within my church.

I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me. Follow along with my #CGXperience this fall on Instagram and LinkedIn!
