Hi! My name is Claire Hammond, and I am a rising senior enrolled at the University of Arkansas. I am pursuing a bachelor's in Communication with a minor in Journalism and Strategic Media. I feel the combination of communication and journalism provides engaging course material, while also providing me with a broad communication skill set.
Since I was a child, I’ve had a strong passion for all forms of communication. Whether I was doing presentations for class or writing up a paper, I have always gravitated toward it. I am eager to kick-start my career in the public relations field; where I will have the opportunity to turn my passion for communication into a career.
I am excited to be interning with The Communications Group this summer in my hometown of Little Rock. Being born and raised here, I am thankful to be working with a company where I can directly get involved in the community. This summer, I aim to get a real-life understanding of the public relations field to prepare me for my post-grad career. One of my goals throughout my internship is to enhance my skills surrounding my approach to PR writing, making it more concise and creative.
When I am not busy with my internship this summer, you will often find me camping, at the pool, or shopping with my sisters. Other things I love are my cats, iced coffee, and baking. When I am at school in Fayetteville, I work at the Inn at Carnall Hall. Through my position there, I learned how to be a professional barista which has only grown my love for iced coffee – a bit too much some might say!
