Owner/Contractor at White River Custom Pools

Rancher at C3R Farms

Hometown: Batesville, Arkansas

Briefly describe your role:
I manage the day-to-day operations for White River Custom Pools, handling marketing, sales, and finances. I also oversee our vacation rental property and manage the day-to-day operations of our cattle farm at C3R Farms.

Q: Is what you’re doing now what you always pictured you would do?

A: Absolutely not! I thought I’d be selling insurance until I retired.

Q: What do you see as the greatest challenges for women in your chosen industry? What are the greatest opportunities?

A: The opportunities in construction and agriculture are endless because there are so few women in these fields. Society often portrays women as helpers rather than leaders in agriculture. The biggest challenge is the steep learning curve. It can be intimidating to dive in and learn everything on your own, and not many women are up for that challenge.

Q: Who has inspired you in your life/career?

A: My older cousin, Shana Hopper Roig, was an incredible inspiration when I started in the insurance industry. She was a powerhouse with the best work ethic I’ve ever seen and pushed me to always strive for success. My attorney, Melanie Grayson, has also been a major influence. She’s one of those women who speaks with such wisdom and authority that you can’t help but listen and soak up everything you can from her.

Q: What advice would you give to an aspiring professional?

A: Use social media to work for you. Many young people are so focused on entertainment through social media that they miss out on the opportunity to use it for research, learning, and staying ahead of the game. I use my phone for researching people, ways to save money, and innovative ideas to keep moving forward.

Q: What’s been your secret to success?

A: Hard work! Growing up, my dad would always say, “If you keep that back end of the shovel full, the front end will take care of itself.” It’s about constantly striving to do your best and putting in the effort—the results will follow.
