Randi Metcalf - WIN

Randi Metcalf

Vice President of Development & Incoming Chief Operations Officer

Hometown: North Little Rock, AR

Briefly describe your role:
As VP of Development, I support CareLink's mission to provide services for older people in central Arkansas by raising awareness, raising funds, and telling the story of the organization. In my upcoming role as COO, I will focus on enhancing the agency’s programs and working directly with staff to provide the best care possible.

Q: Is what you’re doing now what you always pictured you would do?

A: Yes and no. I initially planned to work directly with families or children in social work, but now I do that indirectly, impacting lives through strategic roles within a nonprofit organization. This was the path that led me to connect with others and improve their lives.

Q: What do you see as the greatest challenges for women in your chosen industry? What are the greatest opportunities?

A: The balance between compassion and business-mindedness is a challenge I face. I find value in leading through connection, and hope one day, leadership qualities can be viewed as positive regardless of gender.

Q: Who has inspired you in your life/career?

A: My grandmother, Clara Metcalf, for her creative expression, and my college mentor, Beverly Quillin, for her intelligence, patience, and dedication to serving others. Also, the show The Office has been an important influence in understanding workplace dynamics.

Q: What advice would you give to an aspiring professional?

A: Explore your strengths, absorb knowledge, and be open to different career paths. Patience and personal development are equally important as professional growth. Take opportunities that sharpen your skills, and trust the process that leads you to your goal.

Q: What’s been your secret to success?

A: Surrounding myself with the right people. I’ve been fortunate to work with leaders who invested in me and trusted me to make decisions. Building a support system is essential, and even as someone not athletically inclined, I believe in the power of teamwork!
