Hometown: Beebe, AR
Briefly describe your role:
A: As Customer Specialist, we are involved with all branch operations. This is what makes my role at AgHeritage fun! I provide loan support, service, and assistance to customers in the agricultural business by collaborating directly with them and the loan officer to meet their financial requests and needs.
On the farm, I manage all the financials and records, as well as help with the day-to-day operations when needed. This could include vaccination of cattle on one day, feeding, carrying cattle, mending fences, or working in the hay field on another day.
Q: Is what you’re doing now what you always pictured you would do?
A: I've always been aware of my passion for agriculture. I wasn't sure how I would use that to inspire, serve, and make a difference. Today, I still have both professional and personal goals that I am determined on attaining within the agriculture field.
Q: What do you see as the greatest challenges for women in your chosen industry? What are the greatest opportunities?
A: Agriculture is still perceived as a male driven environment. The biggest challenge for women in the industry is gaining the respect of farmers and ranchers.
The greatest opportunity is being part of the operations in my professional career and personal farm that are helping feed and fuel the world today.
Q: Who has inspired you in your life/career?
A: Darlene Crawford has been my most significant source of inspiration. She has worked for AgHeritage Farm Credit Services for 45 years and has been a professional and personal mentor to me.
Q: What advice would you give to an aspiring professional?
A: Never give up on your dreams. Make a list of your goals, as well as a timeline for the steps you'll need to take to reach them, and commit to it. Continue to challenge yourself.
Q: What’s been your secret to success?
A: My passion, perseverance, and God.
